| Estate's description | Château Gruaud Larose: "The king of wines, the wine of kings" This second cru classé was founded in the eighteenth century by the Knight Joseph Stanislas Gruaud. He died at the end of the eighteenth century, and his unique heir, Jean-Sebastien Larose took back the Château Gruaud- Larose. Due to the succession, the field was divided into 2 parts, and then reconstructed in one in 1935. Since 1997, the Merlauts have owned the Château Gruaud-Larose. On the 82 hectares of its vineyards, the castle also produces a second wine, Sarget de Gruaud-Larose (the name comes from the Sarget de la Fontaine’s family, who was the owner of a part of the area in the nineteenth century). |
