| Estate's description | Château Ducru Beaucaillou: This beautiful property of 245 hectares has now 100 hectares of growing vines on the Saint-Julien’s soil. The Château Ducru-Beaucaillou’s history goes back to the thirteenth century. The name of the Château means “fine stones”, which characterize the soil of this château. At the end of the eighteenth century, the property was sold to Bertrand Ducru, who has affixed his name to the Château: Ducru-Beaucaillou. He undertook major investments for the property and thanks to his efforts; the Château Ducru-Beaucaillou won a second rank, in the 1855’s classification. Since the mid-twentieth century, the Bories have owned the estate. The Bories live in the château, which is quite rare for the Bordeaux’s estates. They are also owners of the Château Lalande-Borie, St. Julien and Château Ducluzeau, cru bourgeois in Listrac-Medoc. Château Ducru-Beaucaillou’s wines are balanced and elegant wines. There is also a second wine, la Croix de Beaucaillou, coming from the youngest vines. |
