| Estate's description | Champagne Perrier Jouët : Pleasant, light and tender champagnes... This famous Champagne’s house was founded in Epernay in 1811 by Pierre Nicolas-Marie Perrier, a corks’ manufacturer, who married Adèle Jouët. With a selection of top quality vineyards (located in Aÿ, Mailly, Avize and Cramer), the Champagne Perrier-Jouët quickly became the official supplier of the Court of England and also of the French Imperial Court. In 1902, Emile Gallé, a glass master of the School of Nantes, drew a bottle, which represented an arabesque of anemones. This bottle was reissued in 1969 to launch the cuvée “Belle Epoque”. This prestigious cuvée is recognized throughout the world, especially in the USA and Asia, as one of the best vintage and perhaps even presented as the finest bottle of champagne. Across the Atlantic, it is known as "Fleur de Champagne”. The house Perrier-Jouët was bought in 1959 by the Champagnes Mumm, which became in the early twenty-first century, the property of Allied Domecq. Perrier- Jouët and Mumm now belong to Pernod-Ricard. Perrier-Jouët produces about 3 million bottles per year. To do so, the house has nearly 180 hectares of vineyards and also buys grapes from others Champagne’s producers. |
