Château Léoville Barton

Château Léoville Barton’s origin goes back to the late eighteenth century. The property was at the time part of Léoville estate, which was the largest Medoc’s vineyard, and belonged to Alexandre de Gasq, Lord of Léoville. At his death, the estate had been shared and became over time the three Châteaux Léoville: Léoville Barton, Léoville Las Cases and Léoville Poyferré. |

n the Léoville Barton‘s case, the Marquis de Las Cases’s share, one of the four heirs, was sold nationally. Hugh Barton, son of Thomas Barton, owner of a trading house in Bordeaux, bought the share in 1826 and created the Château Léoville Barton. The history of this Château is also closely linked with the Château Langoa-Barton (Hugh Barton bought it in 1821). Indeed, the Château Léoville Barton’s.
