(...) acquired the field at the eighteenth century and the castle became château Calon-Ségur. The marquis was also owner of château Lafite and château Latour. He said: "I do my wine at Lafite and Latour, but my heart is at Calon." A heart was symbolized on the label of the wine, in order to do homage to the marquis. The 60 hectares of this area produce a powerful and fragrant wine, which was ranked “third cru classé” in 1855. Thanks to the selflessness of its current owner, Denise Capbern-Gasqueton, the wines of château Calon Segur often compete with the best ones. There is also a second wine, the Marquis de Calon.
