Product Description

"The wine reveals waves if rich flavours, highly savoury and tuned into complexity that makes one want to go further. The cherry flavours fade into hints of wild blackberries. Shows perfect balance between the power of pinot noir and the finesse of chardonnay. This wine provides a distinguished escort for grilled lobster, red mullet, salmon tartare, sushi, roast milk lamb and even fresh goat's cheese." Source : Champagne Deutz " This shows more structure than fruit. The acidity is boosted by the chalky texture, while the flavors conjure up dried cherry, red currant and spice. Balanced in the tart side." Source : Wine Spectator, B.S. - November 2007

Estate's description The Champagne Deutz house was founded in 1838 in Aÿ, which is the earliest famous area of the Champagne’s vineyards. William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann were the founding fathers of the champagne Deutz. Both Prussian immigrants, they opened an office, even if they did not own any vineyards. Subsequently, their son, René Deutz and Geldermann Alfred inherited of the house. They mainly developed the sales, especially with Great Britain, Germany and Russia. In 1906, their sons, René Lallier and Charles Van Cassel took over the head of the Champagne house. Then, they had to deal with difficulties that the champagne’s region faced at that time, including the riots of wine in 1911, which damaged infrastructures, vines and stock, then the 1929 crisis with its depression. When John Lallier, son of René, took over the direction of Deutz in 1938, he had to face a difficult period with the Second World War. However, due to the quality and expertise of Deutz house, the awareness of the brand grew. The son of John Lallier, Andrew, succeeded his father and became CEO in 1972. He inherited a prosperous house, equipped with a comfortable stock, wine cellars, high quality vines and world-renowned brand. Today, past and present coexist harmoniously in Aÿ, combining tradition and modern management, to create elegant champagne, registering in the purest style of Deutz.
