| Estate's description | Château Haut-Batailley: Today, François-Xavier Borie is at the head of the Château Haut-Batailley, such as at the Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste. Through his work and the exceptional soil of the estate, the wines of the château are among the elite of the appellation of Pauillac. Its 22 hectares, planted with cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc, produce elegant, refined and very classical Pauillac’s wines. Its location, at the South of the appellation of Pauillac, not far from Saint-Julien, allows its wines to develop a feminine character. The area was declared as "fifth grand cru” during the famous 1855’s classification. But do not confuse the château Haut-Batailley and the château Batailley! Indeed, the separation of the two castles dates from the 1940s. The Borie family had been then, since the early 1930s, owner of a large vineyard, which included the two castles. |
