Estate's description The château Filhot was made in 1709 by Romain FILHOT, council at the Bordeaux’s Parliament. He has instituted the appellation “Sauternes” to the detriment of the “vin de Langon”, which was the appellation used at that time. (The town of Langon was well known for its trade and its port) However, the domaine has been created around 1630-1650. After the revolution, the Lur Saluces were in charge of the propriety. Nowadays, Henri de Vaucelles leads the management of the château Filhot, and its 60 hectares of vineries. Located in the North of Sauternes’s town, the vineyard is made of sémillon, sauvignon and muscadelle.
