Estate's description Château d'Armailhac: During the XVIIth century, the Armailhacq brothers were owners of plots in Pauillac. During the eighteenth century, their descendants decided to establish vineyards on them. Some Darmailhacq, with different spellings, have succeeded at the head of the field. In 1855, the castle was awarded the title of ‘fifth cru classé’, under the name of the château Mouton Armailhacq. It was also during this period, that the Count Ferrand became the owner of the château d'Armailhac and created a limited society, called Domaine de Mouton d’Armailhacq. In 1934, the Baron Philippe de Rothschild acquired this area. From 1956 to 1975, the area bore the name of the château Mouton Baron de Rothschild, then from 1976 to 1988, the name of, château Baronne Philippe de Rothschild, in tribute to the second wife of the Baron. In 1989, the castle took the name, under which it is known today, Château d'Armailhac. The label represents a small Bacchus, a tribute to the vine. The 50 hectares of the estate, located between château Pontet-Canet and château Mouton Rothschild, host, in their dependencies, the necessary facilities and agricultural techniques to the wines of château d'Armailhac and, also of château Mouton Rothschild.
