Estate's description Château Carbonnieux: Constantly evolving, the château Carbonnieux now belongs to the Perrin family. This area was born during the Hundred Years War, at the end of the fourteenth century and is situated on one of the oldest vineyards of Graves. The Hospices of Bordeaux, the family Ferron, the Benedictine monks of St. Croix and the family Bouchereau were successive owners of the estate. The Phylloxera, the 1929 crisis and the two world wars had devastated the area. But in 1956, the Perrin family acquired the estate and has attempted since then to keep the château Carbonnieux among the elite of Pessac-Leognan. Located in the village of Léognan, the wines of the château Carbonnieux are as well known in red as in white. The whites are harvested by hand, revealing the purest expression of their soil, full of freshness and elegance. They are spread over 45 hectares of Sauvignon, Semillon and Muscadelle. The red wines of the Château Carbonnieux are certainly a little less known, than the white wines, however they begin to have a nice reputation. They are drawn from the 45 hectares of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc, petit verdot and malbec. The wines of Chateau Carbonnieux are classified in white and red, as "grand cru" of graves.
