The castle’s name comes from the family Lacoste, who owned the estate and from its localization. Indeed, the estate is located on the ‘plateau de Bages’, around the vines, on a hill. In 1930, Raymond Dupin bought the castle. The castle was sold shortly before his death to the family Borie. Today, François-Xavier Borie is leading this area of 52 hectares, ranked as ‘fifth cru classé’ in 1855. The wines of the property deserve, however, a better ranking.(...)
(...) however, a better ranking. Made from cabernet sauvignon (70%), merlot (25%) and cabernet franc (5%), the château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of the best bargains of Pauillac. This is a classic of the appellation! The area also produces a second wine, called Lacoste-Borie.
